Fast, easy and oh so chocolately, this Chocolate Pie recipe will make you forget the rest! Topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
The Ultimate Chocolate Pie Recipe
This is no ordinary chocolate pie, friends. It’s one of those recipes that you can make in under 30 minutes, use minimal ingredients, and produce show stopping results. Perfect for the holidays, hot summer days, birthdays, or really, whenever!
Main Ingredients
You only need 8 ingredients to make this amazingly easy chocolate pie recipe. Here’s everything you’ll need:
- Pie Crust – You can either use a store-bought pre-baked pie crust or blind bake a homemade recipe.
- Baking Chocolate – for extra chocolatey goodness! I used semi sweet for more depth of flavor.
- Heavy Whipping Cream + Vanilla + Powdered Sugar – these three are combined to make a sweetened whipped cream that makes for a creamy and silky smooth chocolate filling. See here for all of your whipped cream woes.
- Milk + Instant Chocolate Pudding – these two are combined to create the chocolate pie base.
- Chocolate Shavings – to garnish the top of the pie is shaved chocolate. A simple yet gorgeous addition.
How to Make Chocolate Pie
Once you have all of your ingredients it is super easy to throw this chocolate pie together! For full details see the recipe card down below.
- Start by melting the chocolate in the microwave. Set aside to cool.
- In a separate bowl combine the cream, powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
- In another bowl mix milk and pudding mix until smooth. Let thicken for a couple of minutes before whipping in melted chocolate. Then fold in half of the whipped cream.
- Pour filling into the baked and cooled pie shell. Top with the rest of the whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
- Cover with plastic wrap and store in the fridge until ready to serve.
Storing
The storing directions for this chocolate pie are pretty straight forward. Once the pie has set and you’ve topped it with whipped cream and shavings, cover gently with plastic wrap. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
My main suggestion for this pie is to eat it sooner rather than later. The longer it sits the more chance for a soggy pie crust.
Topping Options
I opted for whipped cream and chocolate shavings to top my chocolate pie, but you could top yours with whatever your heart desires. Here are a couple of ideas to inspire you:
- caramel sauce
- peanuts
- toffee
- sprinkles
- chocolate whipped cream
