Ingredients for No Bake Cookies

You only need 7 ingredients to make these easy no bake cookies. Chances are you already have them too! Here’s what you need:

  • Butter – I usually use salted butter for its flavor! Butter helps all of the other fats (milk and peanut butter) combine.
  • Milk – adds creaminess and helps dissolve the dry ingredients.
  • Sugar – to sweeten and create a sticky-sweet sauce.
  • Rolled Oats – for best results use rolled oats. You can also use quick-cooking oats however, you’ll need to reduce the amount used for 1/4 cup.
  • Cocoa Powder – unsweetened cocoa powder to be exact. And for a richer flavor, use dark chocolate cocoa powder.
  • Creamy Peanut Butter – I would recommend staying away from natural peanut butter for this recipe. Stick to Jif or Skippy.
  • Vanilla Extract – to flavor!

Tips and Tricks

To make the best no bake cookies ever follow these tips and tricks! Trust me, after 50 years of making these cookies, they have been perfected.

  • Pre-Measure Ingredients: this recipe is a quick one, so I would recommend pre-measuring your ingredients to have them ready to go! This would be a great activity to do with your kids.
  • Use Real Butter: aka don’t use margarine, the flavor and contents of margarine are too different from butter to work in this recipe.
  • Boiling: be sure to bring the mixture to a full boil, not simmering! This is so important for the sugar to dissolve so the no bake cookies set correctly.
  • Set a Timer: once that mixture is boiling, set a timer for exactly a minute! No more no less. One minute is the magic number.
